Indonesia Adventure Tour
Day 1: Jakarta
Welcome to your Indonesia adventure tour! This afternoon, you’ll meet your Adventure Leader in the lobby of your accommodation, along with the rest of your group. From there, get to know one another as you take a walk through Merdeka Square, taking in views of the National Monument and Istana Merdeka, the presidential palace.
This evening, get your first taste of Indonesian food with a trip to a local restaurant for a group dinner. You’ll then have a quick trip briefing where you’ll learn what’s to come in the next two weeks, before returning back to your accommodation to rest up.
Day 2: Cikananga Wildlife Centre
We’re up bright and early today to head to the Cikananga Wildlife Centre. Deep in the heart of the Javan jungle, this conservation project isn’t usually open to visitors, meaning you’re heading to somewhere very few others will ever see. Cikananga rehabilitates animals rescued from the illegal pet trade, so you’ll see orangutans, leopards, and many other animals. You’ll also help prepare enrichment activities for the animals, like bamboo tubes filled with honey for the bears at the sanctuary.
This evening, you’ll head on a hike under cover of darkness – led by guides from the Indonesian Herpetofauna Foundation. After returning back to the Centre, you’ll stay in their basic accommodation overnight, listening to the sounds of the night animals.
Day 3: Bogor & Yogyakarta
This morning, you’ll transfer to Bogor to explore the beautiful Botanical Gardens – at over 200 acres, it’s home to almost 14,000 species of plants and trees.
Then at around lunchtime, you’ll transfer to the airport to catch a flight from Jakarta to our next destination, Yogyakarta. Once you’re all settled in your new accommodation, why not take a stroll around the wonderful Alun-Alun Kidal Square?
Day 4: Yogyakarta
You’ve got a busy day today, with a full day trip to Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist Temple! You’ll also explore the stunning Prambanan – the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia – and Ploasan, another beautiful Buddhist temple which dates back to the 9th century. These incredible complexes are huge, so you’ll need a full day to explore them – don’t forget to bring your camera!
Day 5: Yogyakarta & Bromo
Waking up this morning, the first half of the day is yours to do as you please. However, if you’re keen to get sightseeing, you may want to visit the Taman Sari Water Palace. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, and consists of gardens, lakes, and the bathing complex of the royal family.
Early afternoon, you’ll board a train to the next stop on your Indonesia adventure tour – Bromo! Once you’ve checked into your accommodation, we recommend a very early night. You’re up at the crack of dawn tomorrow!
Day 6: Bromo & Banyuwangi
You’ll be up before the birds this morning, as you head off on a pre-dawn hike. Though it might be difficult to drag yourself out of bed, you’ll be well-rewarded with one of the most incredible sights in Indonesia – sunrise from the volcano of Mount Bromo. Spend some time taking in this incredible sight, before heading back down mid-morning. From there, you’ll transfer to the beautiful Madakaripura Waterfall. Believed to be the final meditation place of Commander-in-Chief Gajah Mada, it’s fondly been nicknamed the ‘Eternal Waterfall’.
We then continue our journey east, where we’ll arrive in the quiet coastal town of Banyuwangi. After checking into your accommodation, your evening is yours to do as you please.
Day 7: Banyuwangi & Pemuteran
If you’re up for another early start, this morning (although it’s still technically night-time) you’ve got the option to take part in another night-hike to the Ljen Volcano, where you can spot the famous ‘Blue Crater’. You’ll see an incredibly rare phenomenon from inside the crater – fire which appears to be blue! If one volcano was enough for your, however, you’re welcome to have a lie-in at the hotel.
At arround midday, you’ll bid farewell as you prepare to transfer to the stunning region on everyone’s bucket list – Bali! You’ll cross by ferry, arriving at Pemuteran, a small fishing village on the northern coast, in the afternoon. Once you’ve checked into your accommodation, you’ve then got another free evening to explore the area at your leisure.
Day 8: Pemuteran & Canggu
You’re waking up in paradise today! If you’re in the mood for some adventure, this morning you have the option of boarding a boat to Menjangan Island, where you can snorkel around some of the best coral in the region. You can also swim over the Biorock Project, where you can learn more about conservation at the world’s largest coral planting project.
If you’re opting for a more relaxed day, spend your morning catching some rays on the beach a few minutes’ walk from your hostel.
Once you’re all back together, you’ll transfer to Canggu, where you’ll check into your next accommodation. This evening, if you fancy something livelier, why not visit Old Man’s Beach and Echo Beach? They’re two large beach clubs in the area where it’s always party time!

You’ll see Pura Tirta Empal, a spring for holy water, and also explore the famous Tegallang rice fields.
Or, if you’d rather, you can opt to explore under your own steam. The village is beautiful and is surrounded by scenic spots – so if you’re looking to explore independently, ask your Adventure Leader for some highlights to visit.
In the evening, you can head to a rooftop bar, where you can have a drink as you look over the lush rice paddies while the sun sets.
Day 11: Gili Trawangan
This morning, you’re off to paradise itself – Gili Trawangan. Head to the Padangbai Ferry Port, where you’ll board a boat to arrive at Gili Trawangan by the mid-morning. You’ll meet your guide and check into your new accommodation.
Then, in the afternoon you’ll go biking around this beautiful island to orient yourself. But never fear! Bring your swimsuits because there’ll be plenty of opportunities to stop and take a dip in the crystal clear waters along the way.
