About our Nepal Trips

Travelling Sustainably

Our Nepal tour takes you through urban areas, rural areas and everywhere in between. Every step of the way we travel with respect and care. We use public transport, stay in small hostels and with local communities, and ensure we clear up after ourselves as we travel.

The Adventure Leaders

Your guide will be an expert on the places we visit and English-speaking, leading you through fascinating, budget friendly, authentic experiences. Whether that be showing you through streets of UNESCO World Heritage sites, introducing you to monks or assisting your momo-making!

The People

Each trip is different, but our travelers come from all over the world and from every background. Before your Nepal tour why not connect with fellow Dragon Trippers or meet people on The Dragon Trip Facebook page.

Travel the real Nepal

Nepal is a country with a rich history and fascinating culture which our adventure leaders will help to unlock. All this will be against a constant backdrop of truly sensational views which will have you reaching for a camera. Our trips aim to showcase the variety of the country and we take you to a whole range of locations. These include lake-side stays in the mountains, an overnight experience in a monastery, a night out in Kathmandu, spotting leopards in a National Park and your choice of trekking or a yoga retreat!

About our Nepal Tours

Our trips run between March and October and all offer great experiences of being in Nepal. Spring is a particularly popular time to travel as you’ll get the warm days and cool evenings with an array of rhododendrons springing up in the mountains. June-August is warm with rains but this often results in stunning mornings. September to November offers great visibility, clear days and is also a very popular time to visit.

On our Nepal trip we’ll use minibuses throughout which are clean and reliable and have been audited by the The Dragon Trip team.

We stay in a variety of accommodation which helps to showcase the places that we visit. In Kathmandu we’ll stay in a well-located hostel that offers a snapshot into an emerging culture in the region. In the more rural areas, we’ll use more traditional accommodation. The standard rooms are dorms but you can choose to upgrade.

As with all our trips, food plays a central role and we aim to offer our travellers the chance to experience a real range of cuisine. Nepali food tends to be healthier than other South Asian nations. There’s lots of vegetables, lean meats and salads. Yoghurts (dahi) are often used either as a side dish or in lassis. We do a Momo making class on our trips and you’ll get to sample these delicious, Nepali dumplings throughout your tour. Pulao- a vegetable fried rice dish- is popular too. For those with a sweet tooth, look no further than the fresh sel roti- served by street vendors. This doughnut-bagel hybrid is a heavenly snack!

These are available on arrival at the airport for the majority of nationalities. Please contact our pre-trip team for any questions about this but it’s all very easy 🙂
