A central part of travelling is the food you get to try. South Korean food is infamous around the world, think Korean fried chicken and Kimchi, and yes, you can get some good replicas but there’s nothing quite like the real deal! Here are our personal favourite must-try foods:
A double fried delicacy in sweet and sour sauce washed down with a pint of Korean beer doesn’t get much better!
You’ll see Korean Barbecue joints pop up all around the world, and for good reason. Marinated beef is juicy, succulent and delicious and has proved a favourite amongst visitors for years.
A key ingredient in most dishes, Kimchi is a staple in Korean cooking. Consisting of fermented vegetables, Kimchi has a distinctive spicy and sour taste and is a pinnacle of Korean culture.
You don’t have to escape to the rural South Korean countryside for beautiful views, even the cities offer incredible landscapes! One of our favourites is the view from the top of Namsan Mountain where you can see Seoul lit up beautifully at night.
Once you have left the city you will be greeted by some of the most incredible natural landscapes on the planet. On our Dragon Trips we ensure our Dragons get to see the stunning Jeju Island by starting a long hike at the Jeongbang Waterfall.
There are also plenty of incredible temples nestled in cliff tops along the way so be sure to keep an eye out!
South Korea holds some incredible ancient history and therefore has a very rich culture. On our trips, we take our Dragon’s to an overnight temple stay where they will learn the art of Sunmudo, take part in meditation classes and eat traditional, simple buddhist meals!
Not only do we ensure our Dragon’s learn about the ancient history of South Korea, but also the more recent political environment. We visit the demilitarised zone between South and North Korea and offer the chance to talk to a North Korean defector. A truly fascinating, once in a lifetime experience!
South Korea is a spectacular place, and it’s definitely worth a place on any traveller’s bucket list! We offer many different types of trips to South Korea, so check them out HERE and see if anything can tempt you!
