Afterwards, we’ll meet with a Buddhist monk to learn more about the role of this religion in society and the practices associated with it. We’ll then relax in the afternoon at the botanical gardens before sunset by the lake- a gorgeous way to round off the daylight. Not that your Kandy experience is over as we’ll grab a drink at the imaginatively titled “Pub” on the main street.
We’ll visit an educational centre in rural Sri Lanka. Established in 2001- this centre has been an integral part of the local community and provides a range of educational and sporting services. This truly unique experience will give you a sense of life in the countryside and local entrepreneurship.

Check out the rushing rapids at Rawana Falls and enjoy a dip there. In the afternoon, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the charms of Ella. This gorgeous hill town plays host to some stunning hikes, a cooking class and a visit to a tea plantation. Or simply relax amidst the stunning setting!
Hike to Mini World’s End for a sensational sunrise stroll. We’ll arrive for a picture-perfect sunrise. The whole walk takes a couple of hours but we’ll stop for a break, on the way down, in a cafe nestled amidst the hills- a pretty unbeatable way to have your obligatory morning tea. We will then visit Udawalawe – The Elephant Transit Home- this centre is run by the wildlife authorities and it’s here where these majestic creatures are cared for until they are fit to re-enter the wild. They are raised in a controlled wild habitat and they gather 2-3 times a day in the orphanage headquarters to get their milk before heading back to their habitat. Bid farewell to the hill country and head South as we venture towards Yala National Park. We’ll pitch camp for the evening and listen out to the sounds of the wild.
Safari in the National Park: Take an early morning jeep safari into Yala National Park. Yala is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. It affords visitors the opportunities to spot Sri Lanka’s incredible variety of wildlife ranging from painted storks, crocodiles, fantailed peacocks, monkeys, elephants, jackals, sloth bears and the star attraction; the elusive leopard! There’s a higher chance of seeing leopards here than anywhere else in the world! Head over to Unawatuna in the afternoon for some time relaxing on the beach!
