Travelling from north to south, this tour is packed with fun activities, must-see historic sights, and sports fixtures against Chinese schools. See many of China’s iconic landmarks, hike or cycle through bamboo forests, watch a professional football match and build cultural ties with a visit to a local school.

Itinerary

Day 1: Hutong tour

Arrive at Beijing Capital Airport and transfer to accommodation. Take a guided walk through one of Beijing’s ancient hutong areas. In the evening, enjoy a welcome banquet and trip briefing.

Day 2: Modern China

See modern China’s architectural triumph the Olympic Village, including the Bird’s Nest Stadium (entrance included) and the Watercube (entrance not included). Visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City then climb up Jingshan Park for panoramic views of the city. Watch a Beijing football team play in the Chinese Super League.

Day 3: Great Wall

Morning training session with organised 5-a-side matches. In the afternoon, travel to a secluded and incredibly beautiful section of the Great Wall, avoiding the crowds.

Day 4: School Visit

Visit a Chinese school, specially matched to your educational interests. Join a school lesson, take a tour and participate in other activities alongside Chinese students. Match: Compete against a Beijing-based school. Post-match briefing over a delicious Peking Roast Duck meal.

Day 5: Temple of Heaven

Visit the Temple of Heaven to and join in the activities of Chinese park life. Play the Chinese soccer skills-based game of Jianzi. Lecture: Listen to a talk about sport in China from notable commentator or sportsman, followed by a student-led Q&A session. Night train from Beijing to Hangzhou (soft sleeper).

Day 6: Bamboo Mountains

Arrive in Hangzhou and travel to nearby bamboo mountains in Moganshan. Check-in to a mountain lodge. Students can enjoy beautiful outdoor surroundings, bike rides and hikes/runs through the mountains. Relax in the evening as we watch a film: Shaolin Soccer.

Day 7- Fitness Training

Morning fitness training around the hills. Transfer to Shanghai and check-in to accommodation.

Day 8: Match day

Match: Compete against a Shanghai-based team. Then take a guided tour of People’s Square, Nanjing Road and the Bund and learn about China’s rapid urban development.

Day 9: Yu Yuan Gardens

Visit one of the China’s Football Academies and learn about improvements in the game. Match: Compete against the Academy team. Browse gifts and local delicacies at Yu Yuan Gardens and Bazaar. Enjoy an evening cruise on the Huangpu River for more amazing views of the Shanghai skyline.

Day 10: Fly Home

Transfer to Shanghai Pudong Airport for flight home.
