An action-packed three-stop loop that includes major historic sights, a hike along the Great Wall and culminates with a visit to the birthplace of Kung Fu – the Shaolin Temple. Students will visit a local Kung Fu school, try to master the basics themselves before watching the Shaolin monks put on a memorable display.

Itinerary

Day 1: Hutong tour

Arrive at Beijing Capital Airport and transfer to accommodation . Take a guided walk through one of Beijing’s ancient hutong areas. In the evening, enjoy a welcome banquet and trip briefing.

Day 2: Great Wall

Coach transfer out to Jinshanling Second Valley section of the Great Wall to start your 2 day hike. Have a delicious countryside lunch before you start your hike. Trek time 2-3 hours across 5km. Check in to a simple guesthouse by the Great Wall.

Day 3: Acrobatics

Get up early and make sandwiches for the day’s trek. Depart the guesthouse at 8:00am. Hike from Jinshanling to Gubeikou, stopping for lunch on the wall. Trek time 4-5 hours (approx.) – 12km. Transfer back to Beijing. Watch a stunning acrobatics show in the early evening and check in to Beijing city accommodation.

Day 4: Historic Beijing

Visit the Temple of Heaven to see classic imperial Chinese architecture and get a taste of Chinese park life. Enjoy a Beijing Roast Duck lunch. Learn about imperial China in Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, then take in the panoramic view of historic Beijing from Jingshan Park. Take a night train (soft sleeper) from Beijing to Xi’an.

Day 5- Terracotta Warriors

Arrive in Xi’an. Visit the Terracotta Warriors, one of the world’s greatest historical sights. Transfer to accommodation then bike ride along the top of Xi’an’s ancient City Walls. For dinner sample the unique flavours of Hui Muslim food and enjoy shopping at the Muslim Quarter market.

Day 6: Shaolin Temple

Fast train from Xi’an Luoyang. Transfer by coach to Dengfeng, the closest town to Shaolin Temple, and check in to accommodation before visiting a local Kung Fu school and children’s home. Watch a spectacular martial arts demonstration by the students and enjoy a Kung Fu lesson from them and their teacher.

Day 7 Kung fu show

Visit Shaolin temple itself and watch a spectacular show by Monks from the temple. See the Pagoda Forest and explore the surroundings of the temple. Take a flight (economy class) from Luoyang to Beijing. Transfer to accommodation in Beijing.

Transfer to Beijing Capital Airport for flight home
