Itinerary & map
Days 1-2: Bangkok, Thailand
Arrive in this vibrant Asian metropolis to meet your group and adventure leader. Enjoy a dinner and a tuk-tuk tour, have a drink in an idyllic rooftop bar, and explore the Old City.
Days 3-6: Chiang Mai, Thailand
Head to Chiang Mai, an ancient capital of Thailand and a refreshing contrast to Bangkok. Witness the city’s surviving heritage, experience the bustling food markets, visit an elephant sanctuary, and explore the surrounding area on quad-bikes.
Days 7-9: Luang Prabang, Laos
Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its exceptionally preserved temples, rich culture and cascaded waterfalls. Take a dip in the turquoise pools of Kuang Si Falls and speak with local children to help develop their English skills.
Days 10-11: Vang Vieng, Laos
Travel 105 miles north to find yourself in the backpackers’ heaven of Vang Vieng. The village remains a popular stop for travellers to recharge while offering plenty of adventurous activities. Swim in the Blue Lagoon and have a go at tubing.
Days 12-13: Hanoi, Vietnam
Get swept away by the romance of Hanoi, home to French architecture and lush forestry. This political and cultural capital is a city of contrasts; old and new, native and foreign. Explore the Old Quarter and visit the Hoa Lo Prison to learn about the nation’s past.
Days 14-15: Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
105 miles from Hanoi lies Ha Long Bay. With roughly 3,000 limestone islands and stunning beaches. Head out on a boat cruise, kayak, play with monkeys, and spend the night on the cruise.
Days 16-17: Phong Nha, Vietnam
Explore Bong Lai Valley by bike, cycling past rural villages along the way. Stop at ‘Pub With Cold Beer’ for a drink, bite to eat, and, if you fancy, a game of volleyball with the locals. Visit the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park to explore the incredible caves and mud pools.
Days 18-19: Hoi An, Vietnam
Once a major port during the ancient Champa Kingdom, this amiable city is best known for its picturesque architecture. Explore the UNESCO Site, Hoi An Ancient Town, sniff-out small treasures in its boutique shops, relax on the beach, and jump on a boat to catch some crabs.
Days 20-22: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Also known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant, youthful city that was a focal point in the Vietnam War. Explore its history with a city walking tour, pay a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, or look for treasures at the night market.
Days 23-24: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Once synonymous with conflict, this now trendy and alluring city has become a must visit for backpackers. You’ll get a window into history with a visit to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, but a taste of the area’s beauty with a sunset cruise.
Days 25-27: Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia
Spend some time in an island paradise. You’ll take an incredible boat trip from the sandy white shores, get a chance to have an amazing scuba-diving experience, take a hike to a cliffside bar, and even get the chance to spend a night under the stars in a hammock.
Days 28-31: Siem Reap, Cambodia
Everything awaits you in Siem Reap. You’ll pay a visit to an incredible Cambodian circus, get the chance to find some amazing treasures in the Old Market, and take a walking tour of the city. Most excitingly, you’ll visit Angkor Wat, the largest religious site in the world.
Southeast Asia Adventure Tour
Day 1 – Bangkok, Thailand:
You will arrive in this bustling Asian metropolis and have the chance to meet your group and your Adventure Leader.
After your arrival, get ready for dinner with a tuk-tuk tour! Hop on board and head to dinner in one of the city’s amazing rooftop restaraunts, where you can choose from lots of Thai dishes. Afterwards, your tuk-tuk will take you past Bangkok’s highlights at night.
Finish the night with views of Bangkok from one of the many rooftop bars. The Adventure Leader will be able to give you some suggestions for where to find the best view!
Day 2 – Bangkok, Thailand:
You have a leisurely morning and the option to delve into the rich history of Bangkok with an Old City tour. This tour will take you to iconic temples like Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and the stunning Grand Palace. Please be aware that if you decide to explore the old town, you’ll need to check out of your accommodation and arrange for the storage of your luggage in the morning. Once you return to the hostel, take some time to freshen up before catching a bus to the train station, where you’ll embark on your journey from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
Day 3 – Chiang Mai, Thailand:
Upon your arrival at Chiang Mai station, you’ll receive a warm welcome from our overnight homestay! We’ll transfer to the accommodation to drop our luggage, before departing for an afternoon in the wilderness.
We’ll travel to the starting point of our jungle trek, from which we’ll hike around 4-6km. It’ll take us a couple of hours – but, of course, we’ll make a refreshing stop at a waterfall to truly make the most of our time in the jungle. After that, it’s back to our homestay to enjoy a delightful evening meal.
Day 4 – Chiang Mai, Thailand:
After checking out of our homestay, this morning we’ll be taking part in an amazing unmissable activity – a half-day at an elephant sanctuary! At this ethical sanctuary, you’ll spend time with professionals, learning about elephant behaviours and the sanctuary’s conservation efforts in Thailand. You’ll be able to watch them play in mud pits, and can even help prepare treats for them! We’ll also get a delicious vegetarian buffet lunch on site too.
Once finished here, we’ll transfer into the city itself where your luggage will be waiting for you at the hostel. In the evening, you’ll have the choice to partake in either a cooking class or attend a thrilling Muay Thai show.
Day 5 – Chiang Mai, Thailand:
We’ll commence the day with a fascinating Monk chat at the first temple, and then we’ll hop on public songthaews, those iconic Thai red trucks, to visit these captivating temples. After immersing ourselves in the spiritual beauty of Wat Doi Suthep, we’ll make our way back to the hostel. For those seeking an optional thrill, consider embarking on a journey to the stunning limestone Sticky Waterfall, which is about 1.5 hours away by songthaew, a ride well-known for its unique charm.
Day 6 – Chiang Mai, Thailand:
Today, you have a free day, and there are several exciting options to choose from. Brace yourself for some Whitewater Rafting, test your driving skills on an ATV or take on another trek across the glorious landscapes. If you’d like to explore the old town independently, don’t hesitate to ask your leader for suggestions. For a taste of local flavour, you can visit the local market with souvenir and street food.
Day 7 – Luang Prabang, Laos:
You’ve got some free time this morning, before we transfer to the airport ahead of our flight to Luang Prabang.
After your arrival, you’ll be transferred to your new accommodation. In the evening, there’s an optional group dinner on the agenda. Following dinner, take a stroll to the Hmong Night Market. This vibrant market is a fantastic place to immerse yourself in local traditional music, crafts, and food.
Day 8 – Luang Prabang, Laos:
This monring you have a wide range of activities to choose from. Partake in the rich local culture by joining the enchanting Takbat Lao Ceremony, where monks gather food from around the city. If you’re in the mood for a culinary adventure, consider the Cooking Experience where you will explore the local wet market, purchase fresh ingredients and enjoy a hands-on cooking session. Another option is to give back by volunteering at Big Brother Big Mouse.
For a delightful blend of adventure and creativity, opt for Biking to Visit the Village and Practice Making Pottery. This full-day adventure includes cycling through captivating locales, learning about pottery, and even crossing the Mekong River before lunch. A visit to the enchanting Kuang Si Waterfalls is an unmissable activity.
This evening, you can opt to visit a local home for dinner and a welcome Baci. It’s only a few minutes walk from your accommodation to the house, where you’ll be welcomed by the locals with a welcome drink and a Baci ceremony – this is part of the Lao people’s culture, and following this you’ll then enjoy a delicious local dinner.
Day 9 – Luang Prabang, Laos:
In the morning, consider an optional visit to Ban Xanghai village, renowned for its whisky and rice wine production. Here, you can learn about the art of crafting these spirits and savor lunch at a local restaurant. Following your village visit, embark on a boat journey down the picturesque Mekong River to explore the renowned Pak Ou Caves. On your return journey to the hostel, make a stop at Mt. Phousi and relish a beautiful sunset.
Day 10 – Vang Vieng, Laos:
Today, you’ll take a bus to Vang Vieng. Along the way, there’s a stop at the Blue Lagoon, a picturesque location perfect for a refreshing swim and a break from the heat. In the evening, you’ll check in at your new hostel and have the option to either unwind or explore the local nightlife.
Day 11 – Vang Vieng, Laos:
Today offers an array of exciting activities. You can opt for a thrilling rock-climbing experience, take a biking tour to explore the area, and then embark on a hike up to the Pha Ngern Viewpoint, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas. Alternatively, you can choose to leisurely float down the Mekong River in a rubber tube, pausing along the way to admire the stunning scenery. In the evening, you have free time to immerse yourself in the vibrant nightlife of Vang Vieng.
Day 12 – Hanoi, Vietnam:
Begin your day early with a bus ride to the airport, from where you’ll catch a flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival in Hanoi, you’ll be transferred to your new hostel via bus. In the evening, you can either explore the local streets for some delicious street food, or opt to join an optional bar crawl for a night of fun with your fellow travellers.
Day 13 – Hanoi, Vietnam:
Today’s itinerary includes a visit to the Hoa Lo Prison where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about Vietnam’s history. Following this, you’ll head over to Hoan Kiem Lake with its central temple. You can leisurely stroll around the lake, observing the locals as they engage in games and activities on the wide streets constructed by the French in Hanoi’s historical centre. If you’re feeling hungry, Old Quarter Street offers a variety of dining options for you to enjoy.
Afterward, you’ll have a free afternoon to explore Hanoi’s narrow streets, where you can try your hand at crossing the bustling roads just like a local. If you’re in the mood for some evening entertainment, consider attending a Water Puppet Show for a unique cultural experience.
Day 14 – Ha Long Bay, Vietnam:
Your adventure takes you to Halong Bay today, an enchanting destination nestled in Vietnam’s northeastern region. Once you reach the shores of Lan Ha, a serene boat cruise will provide the perfect start to your experience. You’ll be guided to the finest locations, inviting you to partake in a refreshing swim. As the day draws to a close, the group will relish a delectable buffet dinner on the cruise.
Day 15 – Ha Long Bay, Vietnam:
Your day commences with an invigorating kayak tour on the mesmerizing emerald waters of Halong Bay. As you paddle, you’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the limestone islands. Following this adventurous morning, you’ll join the group for a satisfying lunch. Later in the day, you’ll make your way back to Hanoi and board an overnight bus to Phong Nha.
Day 16 – Phong Nha, Vietnam:
Upon your arrival in Phong Nha at around 4 am, you’ll proceed to your hostel, where you can take the opportunity to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Afterward, you’ll embark on a delightful bike ride to Bong Lai village. Here, you’ll make a pit stop at the ‘Pub With Cold Beer,’ engage in some volleyball, and savor a delicious meal. As the day transitions into evening, don’t hesitate to consult your Adventure Leader for suggestions on how to make the most of Phong Nha’s nightlife.
Day 17 – Phong Nha, Vietnam:
Today, you have the option to immerse yourself in an exciting activity. Spend the day exploring Phong Nha’s vast cave systems, including Paradise Cave and Dark Cave. Alternatively, you can embark on a hiking adventure along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, where you might be fortunate enough to encounter incredible wildlife like tigers, bears, and elephants. Following dinner, it’s time to board the sleeper bus to Hoi An.
Day 18 – Hoi An, Vietnam:
Your arrival in Hoi An is scheduled for 4 am. Take some time to rest at your accommodation in the morning. In the afternoon, you can opt for a lantern-making experience. Later, embark on a guided tour of the ancient town and the riverfront. During this tour, you’ll gain insights into the town’s rich history, particularly its significance as a vital trading post with Japanese and Vietnamese influences.
Day 19 – Hoi An, Vietnam:
Today is your free day to explore Hoi An at your own pace. Alternatively, you can choose from several optional activities. You might opt for a visit to Ba Na Hills, a French-style village accessible by the world’s longest cable car. Alternatively, you can explore a local farm or rent a bike to discover one of Hoi An’s beautiful beaches. In the evening, savour delightful local cuisine or immerse yourself in the vibrant nightlife.
Day 20 – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam:
Commence your day with an engaging Coconut Basket Boat and Farming adventure. Later, proceed to the airport to catch a flight to our final destination in Vietnam. Relish a dinner in the vibrant city and soak in the nighttime cityscape from a rooftop bar before embarking on an exciting bar crawl.
Day 21 – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam:
Commence your day with a guided tour of Ho Chi Minh, exploring some of the city’s renowned landmarks. Savor a delightful lunch at a local restaurant, and take a relaxing break. In the afternoon, you have the choice to visit the War Remnants Museum, an institution that offers vital insights into the history of the Vietnam War. Come evening, relish your time at a bustling night market.
Day 22 – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam:
Set out on an exploration of the Cu Chi tunnels, an intricate network of connecting tunnels employed during the civil war. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in a captivating coffee workshop. Conclude your last evening in Ho Chi Minh City with a thrilling 2-hour karaoke session, where you can sing your hearts out and create lasting memories!
Day 23 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia:
Today, cross the border into Cambodia as you journey towards the capital. After checking in at the hostel, set out on a city walk to explore the sights. In the evening, enjoy a delightful dinner and drinks at Bassac Lane, soaking in the local atmosphere.
Day 24 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia:
This morning, engage in a tour of the S21 Prison and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, delving into the harrowing history of Cambodia. Traverse the city in a Tuk Tuk with a knowledgeable local guide. You can opt for a serene sunset cruise or explore the vibrant night market to conclude your day.
Day 25 – Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia:
Embark on a journey to Sihanoukville, where you’ll board a ferry to Koh Rong Samloem Island, a serene paradise celebrated for its pristine sandy shores, crystalline waters, and tranquil ambiance. Savor a leisurely afternoon by the beach or partake in an exciting kayaking adventure.
As evening descends, we’ll rendezvous at a cliffside bar for drinks, allowing you to relish a cocktail while witnessing a breathtaking sunset. The night will lead you to the beach, where you’ll wade into the water to witness the mesmerizing bioluminescent plankton phenomenon.
Day 26 – Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia:
Commence your day with a delectable buffet breakfast, setting the perfect tone for an island day adventure. Your journey will include a visit to a traditional fishing village, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture, followed by some leisure time on the sun-kissed beach. Explore the wonders beneath the sea by snorkelling in the vibrant coral reef at a nearby island, enjoying paradise.
Day 27 – Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia:
Kickstart your day with a scuba diving session, a beach clean-up, or simply laze under the sun to work on your tan. Savor a delightful BBQ lunch on the beach, and in the afternoon, make your way to the mainland where you’ll catch the sleeper bus bound for Siem Reap.
Day 28 – Siem Reap, Cambodia:
You’ll reach your lodging bright and early, kickstarting the day with a walking tour of local villages. Spend a leisurely afternoon indulging in spa sessions, and in the evening, relish a captivating night at a Cambodian circus.
Day 29 – Siem Reap, Cambodia:
Begin your day at the break of dawn as you venture to the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Angkor Wat – the largest religious monument globally! Dedicate a few hours to explore the Temples of Angkor, including Ta Prohm, which gained notoriety for its role in Tomb Raider. In the afternoon, you can opt for the Apopo Hero Rats Tour via Tuk Tuk. Come evening, you have the choice to partake in a 1.5-hour tour on a pedal-pub car, which includes one free drink per person, followed by drinks at bar prices and the opportunity to sample local Cambodian delicacies.
Day 30 – Siem Reap, Cambodia:

After 31 days of revelling in some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, today is the last day of your Southeast Asia adventure tour. It’s time to bid farewell to your companions. You’ll take the bus back to Bangkok which will arrive at around 5pm. Safe travels!!

Drones
The use of Drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is prohibited during our Southeast Asia adventure tour. If you are in possession of a drone when entering the country it is your responsibility to be informed of and follow all local laws. This may include registering your drone with authorities. If you violate this policy or operate a drone illegally you are subject to removal from the tour as per our terms & conditions.
Koh Rong
At certain times of the year (low season particularly) the weather and wave conditions may mean that we are unable to use boats to access certain parts of Koh Rong islands. In these circumstances we would have to adapt the tours accordingly and offer activities of a similar value.
This may also apply to the conditions for camping and hammock stays, we may have to adapt the tour to include village homestays or accommodation on other beaches around the island.

A deposit is required to make a reservation on our Southeast Asia adventure tour with the balance due 70 days prior to departure (unless booking with one of our promotions, for which specific balance due dates may apply).
The deposit is 10% of the group tour price (unless stated otherwise). If you book on to our Southeast Asia adventure tour less than 70 days prior to departure, the full balance will be due within 3 days of booking.
No bookings can be accepted within 40 days of a trip departure date for our Southeast Asia adventure tour.
Room Upgrades
If you’d like to upgrade to a private room the prices are listed below. The upgrade fee is for the room, not per person.
- Single room is £820 (One person to a room)
- Double room is £610 (Two people sharing)
The room upgrade is available in all destinations aside from the homestay in Chiang Mai, and the overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay. Please note: if you are upgrading to a private room in Koh Rong Sanloem, please be aware that only double rooms are available here.
There are parts of this trip in which you may not have hot water or electricity during the day – please bear this in mind and keep an open perspective, especially in countries such as Laos and Cambodia, where the local levels of development or infrastructure may not be the same as your country of origin. Please also be aware that where upgrades on accommodation are available through the tours, not all of these upgrades to private rooms include en suites. In certain hotels, upgrades to double rooms may include an en suite, where twin rooms may include a shared bathroom usage. In others, due to the layouts of the accommodation, shared bathroom facilities may be the norm across all room upgrades.
